I first learned about WordPress Playground at Cloudfest.
- Have you heard about WordPress Playground yet? It’s a full WordPress (site) that lives in the browser only. Not on any server. It’s doing that via WebAssembly and it is a super cool tool with lots of potential.
It’s so cool that Google even featured it on their Developer Blog! Two of the main developers of it, Daniel Bachhuber and Adam Zieliński both blogged about it. I highly recommend you read all three articles, and I’m pretty sure you’ll quickly see this is a game changer. Major one.
- This is what a lot of folks do right after they’ve installed WordPress.
Much of this is covered in my upcoming Unlock the True Power of WP CLI course. Because yes, most, if not all, can be automated.
🚀 Performance
- Chrome version 112, and this just goes to show that performance metrics are an ever changing thing, will ignore low-entropy images.
Side note, how the heck did we get to version 112 already!?
- Researching some performance issues I was solving, I came across this article: Why Your Cached JavaScript Is Still Slow and Incurs Performance Overhead
It’s a common misconception I love clearing up whenever I can: caching will not make your site fast. More on that later.
🔆 Inside WordPress Highlight
- I have been using this plugin more and more of late. I have mentioned it before, but it bears repeating: Simple Cloudflare Turnstile.
Why use this instead of ReCaptcha? Turnstil is privacy friendly, non-intrusive and does get it in the way at all.
💡 Interesting Finds
- God Mode. Now, who doesn’t like that mode?! Well, you have it available at the tips of your fingers. One of the coolest little tools I have seen lately. God Mode with AI, to be clear.
What I am reading
Started a new book. Do Hard Things: Why We Get Resilience Wrong and the Surprising Science of Real Toughness.
And it is indeed surpising. Lots to learn from this one!
