My exchange-brother Matt Mendlick’s story got featured on the site of the American Brain Tumor Association. It has been almost 10 years since I last saw him and a lot has happened in his life. In Matt’s own words:

My fateful journey began in April 2008 when the worst headache of my life brought me to the Radiology department where I was finishing my residency. What I thought might be a small bleed ended up being an only partially resectable, grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma. A complicated post-operative course made my recovery much more difficult and studying for my Boards in June was put on the back burner (via American Brain Tumor Association).

Stories like Matt’s only makes me realize more and more that it’s only about the now, to live in the present and to be appreciative of what you have now… because that’s all you’ve got.

I’m so proud of Matt for changing his life in every way possible to fight this terrible disease and of Katie for running in honor of Matt. You can read more of Matt’s story here.
