Turns out creating a newsletter while you’re organizing a WordCamp is not feasible 😅. I had planned for it, but it just didn’t work. I was too busy explaining folks what I was going to do with all that extra time now that I’ve stopped organizing WordCamps after 15 years.
Having been busy with my final WordCamp Netherlands the week prior, I also had very little to share.
Hope to make up for that this week and hope you enjoy it!

🗞️ Inside WordPress News
Here’s what I saw happening this past weeks:
- My friend Alain Schlesser published an article on the XWP blog about upcoming changes to browser cookies and privacy. The impact is huge.
Required reading I would even say so.
- Przemysław Hernik published an in-depth article on how to simplify SQL queries in WordPress projects with Laravel’s Capsule.
For all you WordPress developers out there that are ready to combine other solutions alongside WordPress. I know I do.
- WooCommerce has released a new Block-based production creation experience.
It’s the future of WooCommerce, so if you’re working with it, do familiarize yourself early!
- This week I learned about the existence of a plugin called Plugin Detective. Its goal is to help troubleshooting conflicts.
- A new podcast episode of Within WordPress with Ian Svoboda was released today. For anyone looking to better understand working with Blocks, whether that’s in the Block Editor or the Full Site Editor, there’s a lot you can learn from an expert in the field.
We also profess our love for WP CLI quite a few times!
🚀 Performance
- A new Core Web Vitals tech report is incoming!
- Wes Bos shared a useful visualization of JavaScript tag loading attributes
My favorite performance optimizing tools in WordPress:
- Best Front-end optimization plugin
- Cleaning up WordPress + script manager
- Cloud based performance optimizations
🔆 Inside WordPress Highlight
- Davinder Singh Kainth published a new site / newsletter that highlights new and useful WordPress plugins. It’s called Pluginsly.
Since we don’t have the RSS feed anymore off of .org with exactly that, this is the next best thing.
Some of my favorite WordPress tools:
- The most versatile and accessible form solution for WordPress
- LocalWP, the easiest to use local dev solution
💡 Interesting Finds
- Google is now rolling out the new Google Tag template to all (web) Google Tag Managers. And there’s an impact.
- What I wish I knew about AB testing before I needed it.
- Subgrid for CSS has landed!
📖 What I am reading
How I got paid to live in Antartica. Well no, not actually me, but that’s the title of this intruiging article.
🎁 Bonus
Security. Something you can never have enough layers of when it comes your favorite CMS, right? Well, there’s a lot about to change that will have a huge impact on WordPress and you as well.
That’s it for this week’s edition of Inside WordPress. Thanks for reading!
Best, Remkus
